Over this past semester, I have learned that I am not the best writer, and that is okay. However, I do need to improve on my writing in the areas of analysis and expanding on my thoughts. I tend to dance around the subject and never get to the point. I also need to work on structuring my thesis better, because mine usually are very "cookie cutter". This semester has taught me how to find the more complex undertones of a piece of literature, which will be very helpful for the upcoming exam. My scores on the AP scale are usually on the lower end of the spectrum (4&5), and I will especially focus next semester on trying to increase my score.  Looking further into real life implications will help me raise my score. Next semester I will also try to use better and more thoughtful words to describe my thoughts. As a child and throughout my early teenage years, video games have always been something that interested me. However, I was never particularly good at them, so I resorted to watching other people master the games and learning about the lore as much as I could. This turned me to the youtube channel called Game Theory , which endlessly fulfilled my dream of being good at video games. While reading Kaufman's piece on the ending of Huck Finn, I couldn't help but connect the idea of Huck using multiple masks or personalities based on his situation to the game Majora's Mask. Throughout the game, the main character Link uses masks in order to survive encounters with the foes along his path. He uses them to adapt to the situation he has found himself in during his journey. Humans thrive in groups that are similar to them. We are naturally social creatures, and we feel out of place when we are alone, yet still in a group. Our country is a  melting pot  full of people who are of different races, sexualities, genders, and so much more. However, over the course of human history, some groups have decided they are superior to others.  Even though America claims to be open to all, it, in fact, betrays many of its citizens. When it comes to issues that involve foreign nations, such as wars, immigration issues, etc, citizens of marginalized groups always take the fall. There is "no trial, and no due process" ( Takei ) people are simply caught up as "soldiers ordered us out of our home" (Takei). This leads to the discussion about nationalism vs patriotism. Howdy and yeehaw to the to possible world explorers reading this blog. Unfortunately, conquering people around the world and forcing them to believe what you do isn't in style anymore. Luckily, in this day and age, people are often told that they are allowed to be who they are and do what they want to express themselves. Which seems like totally cool right? Yeah, it's not as cool as it's made out to be.
